I Am Responsible Program

Our school oral health program engages young children with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to develop healthy dental behaviors and take responsibility of their own oral health. Partnerships with local schools have made this program a success with incorporation of oral health educational lessons into the year-round school curriculum. Our oral health children’s book that was custom created to fit within the Maasai culture has been a hit with the students and is accessible in school libraries. Schoolteachers also participate by supporting the daily toothbrushing component of the program. We are proud to report that hundreds of children have been graduating from this year-long program with enhanced self-esteem as they take a positive and preventive role in their own health. The local communities have expressed their appreciation for this program and are pleased to tell us that the children are sharing their knowledge and skills with others, becoming positive oral health role models in their community!
